On Tuesday afternoon, a judge ruled in favor of the former Teen Mom OG cast member in his three-year long custody battle against Amber Portwood.
As a result, Glennon now has primary custody of the ex-couple’s young son, James.
Moreover, Glennon has been given legal permission to move with the four-year old to California.
In court documents obtained by The Sun, the aforementioned judge granted Andrew’s request to relocate, giving him sole legal and primary physical custody of James.
He also ordered that he “seek out and consider the mother’s opinion before making any major decisions relating to the child’s medical treatment, education and religion.”
Portwood will be allowed to FaceTime with the toddler and also see him for the occasional overnight visit.
She had been deprived of even the latter luxury ever since getting arrested for domestic violence — after allegedly going after Andrew with a machete — in July 2019.
After the ruling came out, Portwood issued a statement that referenced her history of drug abuse and mental illness.
“I’ve worked so hard to better myself and improve my relationships with my children,” the Teen Mom OG star began.
“While I’ve always been candid about my past substance abuse and struggles with mental illness, a person should have the chance to redeem themselves and not be tethered to their problems from the past.”
Indeed, Portwood has said in the past that she has Bipolar Disorder.

“I’ve spent years rebuilding bridges and did everything that was required of me, including submitting 21 negative drug tests and undergoing multiple psychological evaluations.
“If your road has not been perfect, but you’ve worked hard to become a better, more stable and caring person today, keep moving forward as I will.
“I’ll never stop fighting for my children who I love more than anything.”
For his part, meanwhile?
Glennon didn’t even try to hide his glee in his official reply to the situation.
“We endured the nightmare,” Andrew told E! News.
“Now we get to live the dream.”
Portwoood appeared on Teen Mom OG from 2009 to 2017, followed by the shows Teen Mom: Girls’ Night In and Teen Mom: Family Reunion this year.
She went live on Instagram after news of the ruling went public two days ago, telling fans that she’s dedicated to staying positive and exploring her options, while emphasizing the work she’s done to evolve recent years.
The MTVer, who has been candid about living with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder, also shared her belief her mental illness was “used against her” in this legal case.
In addition to James, Portwood also has a daughter, 13-year-old Leah, with ex Gary Shirley.
