A 46-year-old Canon City man has been sentenced to about 13 years in federal prison for drug and firearm convictions.
James Robert Cude pleaded guilty to distribution and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. He was sentenced June 1 to 163 months in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release.
According to the plea agreement, Cude sold methamphetamine, a rifle and handguns to undercover agents in 2016. Authorities said he had previous convictions and was on parole at the time.
“Prosecutions like this play an important role in keeping Colorado safe,” acting U.S. Attorney Matt Kirsch. said in a statement. “We thank our law enforcement partners at the (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and the Aurora Police Department, who removed a dangerous felon from our community.”
