However, she has opted to make herself an open book, answering a litany of follower questions in a recent Q&A.
Deavan has repeatedly explained to fans that ex-husband Jihoon Lee knows about Taeyang’s cancer.
Jihoon lost custody of Taeyang, and seemingly lost interest in being a parent long before that.
While this is likely for the best, it has not stopped trolls from accusing Deavan of somehow hoodwinking family court.
Both preexisting assumptions and shady editing of their seasons have led some to regard Deavan with suspicion.
Some either do not believe (or never even heard about) the harrowing abuse allegations towards Jihoon.
Others struggle with the idea of even an irresponsible man-child like Jihoon ghosting his son.
During The Other Way, a certain toxic segment of the fandom hated Drascilla even more than they hated Deavan.
One concerned fan (albeit one still unable to spell the girl’s name) was thoughtful enough to ask about her.
Deavan says that Drascilla is doing her best for her little brother, but does not fully understand his leukemia. That’s normal.
Taeyang’s treatment, Deavan has explained, will involve at least two years of chemotherapy.
Chemo is agonizing and extremely draining. This is not a simple series of shots.
The hope is that, within five years, Taeyang will have made a full recovery.
Deavan and her mother, Elicia, have already detailed the excruciating journey to diagnose Taeyang.
At first, he was tired and clearly in pain.
Deavan repeatedly took her son to the doctor, but received no answers.
It took multiple urgent visits before one finally discovered the problem.
Taeyang has B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
If left untreated, this form of cancer can be lethal within a matter of months — or even weeks.
Fortunately, Deavan did not simply hope that iron supplements and other unhelpful “remedies” would work.
Now, Taeyang is nearly through his first month of chemo.
It’s not easy, but it is now part of his routine.
