It’s not a secret, but it remains a scandal.
Kody Brown simply isn’t getting along with two of his kids these days.
It’s more than that, however.
The Sister Wives patriarch isn’t even talking to two of his kids these days.
The two children (out of Kody’s 18!) in question are Gabe and Garrison, a pair of sons the TLC personality shares with spouse Janelle Brown.
Those who tuned in for Sister Wives Season 16 are likely familiar with how this beef began, as Kody instituted a number of VERY strict rules and regulations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
For example?
As depicted in a January 2022 episode of the series, Gabe very much wanted to see his girlfriend, Peyton, amid this public health crisis because she had been self-isolation.
However, Kody made it clear he felt uneasy and untrustworthy, stating plainly that he couldn’t fully believe Peyton was taking the pandemic responsibly.
This pissed his son off.
“I can’t take Peyton out of the equation,” Gabe said on camera in response.
“Gabriel, the real issue here is you had to choose between me coming over or seeing your girlfriend,” Kody told his son, prompting Gabe to wonder why such an ultimatum was being given to him.
“I’m tired of it. It’s literally ruining our family,” Gabe said confessional about his dad’s COVID restrictions.
Garrison felt similar to his brother, and then decided to do something about it.
A few months ago, he moved out of his family’s property and purchased a $329,000, four-bedroom, two-bathroom, residence in Arizona.
Has Kody even visited?
We can’t say for certain.
What we do know is that Kody hasn’t said anything to either of these kids in awhile.
“[We’re] not good. Not talking,” Kody said of Gabe and Garrison during the Season 16 tell-all in February, adding:
“It’s like one of those relationships where we’ve gotta do a lot of work.”
Continued Kody at the time, whining about his sons:
“I make rules, you guys abide by them. I understand that these two needed their social lives.
“I totally get it. But in this case, COVID is different. It changed everything for everybody, and they want it all to be the same.”
Kody then got raw and he also got real.
“We need therapy,” he confessed said to host Sukanya Krishnan this winter.
“I’ve gotten to the point where I’m so angry about what happened that we’re not communicating. And I think they are too.”
That does seem to be the case.
But an insider also told Us Weekly awhile back that the issues go beyond this whole debate over COVID.
“He spent the holidays with Robyn and her kids,” this source said back in January, claiming Gabe and Garrison don’t like the favoritism Kody shows to his only legal spouse.
“He didn’t even try making plans with the others.
“All the wives were very much separated for the holidays, spending time with their own families.”
