Luis Bonilla has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer at US performance rights organization SoundExchange.
Bonilla’s new role at SoundExchange gives him responsibility for the company’s technology systems and infrastructure.
He previously served as the company’s Senior Vice President of Operations.
SoundExchange says that Bonilla will manage the creation and scaling of its tools to better collect and distribute digital performance royalties.
Since joining SoundExchange in 2011 as Senior Director of Distribution Services, the company says that Bonilla has led its transition from quarterly to monthly royalty distribution and redesigned its royalty distribution technologies and processes.
He has also led bilateral exchanges with foreign collective management organizations and orchestrated the overhaul of SoundExchange’s international collection and distribution services.
Bonilla additionally led the development of SoundExchange’s Business Intelligence and Analytics practice, which better informed the company’s data interface.
Prior to his work at SoundExchange, Bonilla ran the IT department at Artistas Intérpretes Sociedad de Gestión, the audiovisual performer’s management organization in Spain.
Bonilla also sits on the Board of Directors of DDEX, the international organization dedicated to improving the exchange of data and information across the music industry.
