Anyone who has siblings knows that two people who were raised by the same parents can have radically different recollections of the experience.
And many people who have psychotic siblings know that it’s not uncommon for a deranged brother or sister to gaslight you by attempting to manipulate your memories of your own life.
That’s the position that Meghan Markle is in these days, and sadly, her struggle against her wicked half-sister is playing out in the public eye.
Of course, that’s exactly as Sammy wants it, as her entire “career” is based on the small amount notoriety she’s accumulated from years of bashing her sister in the media.

These days, Samantha is suing Meghan for defamation.
She’s fighting an uphill battle as such cases usually require the plaintiff to prove that the defendant’s comments harmed them financially, and 100% of Samantha’s earnings are a result of her ties to Meghan.
Anyway, the suit alleges that Meghan lied in her Oprah interview, and that the book Finding Freedom contains “false information” about Samantha.

Meghan didn’t write the book, of course, but since when has Samantha worried about facts.
N
Meg did admit in an earlier court case that her communications secretary briefly communicated with authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
Sam says the book caused her “substantial and irreparable prejudice, injury, and harm,” and she says it’s all Meghan’s fault.

“Meghan did not make the statements; she cannot be liable for them. It is that simple,” Meghan’s lawyers said in their response to Samantha’s filing.
So that part of the case will almost certainly be dismissed right off the bat, but the allegations involving the Oprah interview could cause some headaches for Meghan.
Apparently, Samantha is especially pissed off about the portion of the conversation in which Meghan said that she “grew up as an only child.”

Now, “she wasn’t really around much” is incredibly tame compared to some of the things Meghan could have said about Samantha.
But Sam says the remark was intended to portray her as “a prevaricator who was attempting to cash in on the fact that her barely known half-sister married into the royal family.”
“By publishing these false facts, she was making it apparent that her older sister was an opportunist of the worst kind,” the filing from Samantha’s lawyers continues.

See, this is Samantha’s grift in a nutshell:
She takes an off-hand remark from her sister, figures out a way to get offended by it, and then attempts to monetize her own thin-skinned response.
Usually this means whining to whatever media outlet is willing to give her a couple of minutes of airtime.

This time, of course, Samantha is upping the ante by taking Meghan to court.
There’s no way in hell that any judge will rule in Sam’s favor, but that doesn’t really matter.
S
Either Meghan will shell out for a settlement, or she’ll be drawn into a messy, high-profile court battle that will give Scammy Sammy plenty of memoir fodder and extend her grifting career for at least another year.

It’s the absolute grossest kind of win-win.
It’s a strategy so embarrassing that most people would never even consider it, which means it’s probably been on Samantha’s mind for years.
