A choice of pictures from “Methods of Escape” by Athens, Greece-based artist Antonis Theodoridis. Working throughout the medium of images, Theodoridis’ follow is a mix of conventional analogue images together with digital processes, analysis, collage, and printing. He’s a Fulbright Basis scholar and holds a Images MFA diploma from the College of Hartford, Connecticut.
Made in Athens between 2015 and 2017, the pictures in “Methods of Escape” kind what Theodoridis describes as “an intricate maze of symbols, human figures, and unresolved landscapes, inviting the viewer to traverse a metropolis with an enigmatic previous and an ambiguous current.” He continues:
“Usually portrayed because the birthplace of western tradition, Athens is an ideal backdrop for projected historic assumptions: a metropolis the place on a regular basis life and mythology are curiously intertwined. The sequence explores town by observing its surfaces: its partitions and constructing facades, the individuals who inhabit it and the skinny traces that outline and include its actuality.”
