Throughout Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship, key members of the Royal Family have taken a dim view of the American Duchess.
The situation further deteriorated last year, when Meghan gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey, which revealed that the situation was even more dire than we previously thought.
Meghan shared horror stories of prejudice and mistreatment.
She refused to identify the worst of her tormentors — including the royal who expressed concerns about baby Archie’s skin tone before his birth.
But it’s long been rumored that Prince William is the one who most strongly disapproves of Meghan.
The Oprah interview only added fuel to the fire of William and Meghan’s feud, as he felt that she had gone on the attack against Kate Middleton.
Now, it seems that the bad blood has created a permanent strain between Harry and William.
Insiders say the divide was on clear display during the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations, at which Harry and William barely interacted with one another.
Sources close to the situation say that William “has not been in a good place” with his younger brother, and he’s unable to even hide his contempt, even for PR purposes.
One insider tells In Touch that William “doesn’t know who [Harry] is anymore and the trust between them is strained,” especially after the royal family was “burned so many times” by Harry’s public comments.
“They’ll never recover from the damage that has been done,” says the source.
Behind closed doors, everyone is bracing for a showdown,” the insider said adds
“[Harry and William’s] relationship has been strained for months. They’re due for a long talk to hash out their issues.”
Unfortunately, it seems the two sides cannot agree on the cause of the rift.
The royals believe that Harry and Meghan are causing all the trouble with their insistence on sharing their grievances with the media.
The Sussexes, of course, believe that the strife is a result of the other royals stubborn refusal to address those grievances.
“The royal family, especially Prince William, is sick of all the drama being played out so publicly,” one source tells In Touch.
For his part, Harry doesn’t speak about his relationship with William often.
But when he does, he creates the impression that he’s hopeful about the possibility of a future reconciliation.
Harry also maintains, however, that the ball is in William’s court, as their relationship is unlikely to improve as long as William prioritizes the institution of the Royal Family over his personal relationships.
“I love William to bits. We’ve been through hell together and we have a shared experience, but we are on different paths,” Harry said last year, noting that he believes William and Prince Charles are both “trapped” within the monarchy.
“The relationship is space at the moment and time heals all things, hopefully,” he added.
Needless to say, it sounds like the brothers have a long way to go before they can get back to the sort of close relationship that they used to enjoy.
And it also sounds like William has no interest in putting in the necessary work.
