Wordle has become a worldwide phenomenon since it was first released to the public in October 2021.
The puzzle game gained widespread popularity due in part to its simplicity, meaning that newcomers can quickly pick it up and play.
Each day players try to work out a new five letter word in six attempts or less by using a color-coded grid.
If a letter goes green, it is correct and in the right place, while yellow means the letter is right but in the wrong place. A gray tile tells the player the letter is not in the word at all.
Wordle creator Josh Wardle told Newsweek in January that he can still struggle at times when playing it.
He said: “Well, I did create Wordle and I’m not very good at it, so there’s your answer! I’m afraid I’m not really the best.
“[My partner] and I play it on the couch together each morning. She will consistently get it in three goes, which is way, way better than I can ever hope to achieve. I normally need at least 4 or 5 attempts.”
Wardle would later go o to sell Wordle to the New York Times for an undisclosed seven-figure sum. The game remains free to play via its website.
Wordle has gone on to inspire a number of other puzzle games including the geography-based Worldle and the math-themed Nerdle.
The answer to today’s puzzle will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll down with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
